Politics & PolicyAFTERMATH OF PDP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES: AKWA IBOM PEOPLE REACTINIOBONG MONDAY - Student-Department of Communication Art, UNIUYO Personally, I felt disappointed that Obong Attah withdrew from the race. He should not have stepped down; rather he should have gone ahead with the primaries. I'm really disappointed. MARGARET EFFIONG - CIVIL SERVANT I feel very disappointed because I really needed Attah to contest for the post of the president of this country. The South-south has never produced a president before. I believe this would have been the chance to do so. Moreover, I know definitely that Attah becoming the president of this country would have brought us some good in this state. SUNNY UMOH –DIRECTOR RADIO SERVICE, AKBC I believe that the PDP Presidential primaries were free and fair. There was no fracas. I want to believe that they had reached a consensus. If not so there could have been a repercussion. ETOP WILLIAMS – JOURNALIST I feel so sad because our hope which was raised based on the person Victor Attah whom we believe could represent us and make us proud. And the way he was moving as if he would get the ticket. At the last minute, he shattered those hopes. We are waiting for him to tell us what happened, what went wrong and why? EKANEM MOSES – JOURNALIST I doubt if there was any election. It was just a setup to frustrate the aspirants. (President) Obasanjo has not found it okay for the South-south to produce the next president. He collaborated with the West and the North to do what he did. There is no excuse for his actions. AMBASSADOR INIEBEHE UMAH, PRESIDENT, CONCERN CHRIST AMBASSADOR OF NIGER DELTA (CONCAND) It was what I could call the beauty of democracy. Everyone was given the chance to exercise his political rights. To me it's an act of democracy. IMAOBONG USANGA - STUDENT I was very annoyed because I was so hopeful that Attah would become the next president of this country. Only to have my hopes dashed at the PDP Presidential Primaries. JESICA JOHN – STUDENT I was not happy at the turn out of events at the primaries. In fact I was expecting Attah to be declared as the PDP Presidential flag bearer that night. AKAN OKON – COMMERCIAL MOTORCYCLIST The President knew whom he wants to succeed him, so there is nothing we could have done. MARY AKPA – TRADER It was a comic show. They are playing with us-the South-south. It's a blow on the entire South-south. I felt let down by Attah.
